The Spinelands

The deserts to the south of Skiron hide a secret. Much like the fabled Elephant Graveyard on earth, there is a place where great beasts go to die. Or, rather, have gone to die some time ago. All that remain of them now are the bleached bones that jut out of the ground and the walls of gorges that run through the Spinelands. The dunes around them ebb and flow with the coming winds, revealing or hiding skeletons of ancient predators and even more can be found within those canyons. They are rich with fossils and not just of animals but plants as well. Of familiar life from the Triassic and Jurassic to things that are utterly alien to human eyes. It is the wet dream of a paleontologist! Even mineralogists would take pleasure in sifting through rock and dirt for there are no shortage of minerals either. However, it is not exactly a safe place to be.

Still living beasts do roam the Spinelands, cantankerous elders possibly looking for a place to die or scavengers looking for easy meals and to pick clean the dead. Yet these are not the worst of it. The dead are also just as dangerous, shambling around and vindictively attacking any that still breath. Skeletal dragons, rotting corpses of dinosaurs, and even undead humans prowl in the deepest parts. It is here that the freshest bodies decompose, some by choice and some not so much. It is therefor also fair to say that it may be a Necromancer's wet dream as well.
